IBM PCI SCSI-2 Fast/Wide Raid adapter (Mylex 960P chip-set)
IBM SCSI-2 Fast/Wide Streaming Raid adapter /A (Mylex 960 chip-set)

If using IBM PCI SCSI-2 Fast/Wide Raid adapters, they must be installed in the two primary PCI bus slots (the two slots closest to the bridge card). The backplane that the cdrom is attached to must be cabled to the PCI adapter closest to the bridge card.

It is recommended that the logical drives in the array be initialized and synchronized before loading any operating system.

Unix 3.2 v4.2x and OpenDesktop/Server v3.0
Obtain the file 76h8962.exe from the IBM bbs. This file is a self-extracting file (under DOS or OS/2) that will create a diskette automatically. On this diskette, in the SCO directory, is another self-extracting file called sco3401.exe. Copy this file to your DOS or OS/2 harddrive and execute it. This file will create a diskette that will contain the mdac BTLD that supports the IBM
SCSI-2 Fast/Wide Streaming Raid adapter /A as well as the IBM PCI SCSI-2 Fast/Wide Raid adapter running SCO Unix 3.2 v4.2 and SCO Open Desktop / Open Server v3.0. 76h8962.exe can be located on the IBM bbs (919-517-0001), anonymous ftp (ftp.pc.ibm.com/pub/pccbbs/pc_servers/76h8962.exe ), and the World Wide Web (http://www.pc.ibm.com/searchfiles.html).

Obtain the supplements ibm004b and ibm005b from the /VCD directory on the SCO bbs. ibm004b is a pre-boot diskette that allows the operating system to ignore any spurious (false) interrupts generated by the hardware. ibm005b is the Corollary
C-bus II supplement that incorporates several enhancements for the Corollary Extended C-bus II system and is required to correct an "IP Spinning" error generated during heavy lan activity. The SCO bbs can be accessed through anonymous FTP (ftp.sco.com) as well as the World Wide Web (http://www.sco.com). These files are Unix "Z" compressed and will required a Unix system to uncompress and convert to diskettes.

Insert the ibm004b pre-boot diskette into the floppy drive and power on the system.

At the BOOT: prompt, remove the ibm004b pre-boot diskette and insert the N1 diskette into the floppy drive and type the following: restart link=mdac Srom=mdac(0,6,0) <Enter>

Insert the mdac BTLD diskette when prompted and press <Enter>

Make sure the Num Lock key / light is on before you select the keyboard, otherwise possible key mis-mapping can occur. If installing Unix 3.2 v4.2 for the first time, always remember to install the Extended Utilities.

During installation, the IQM (Installation Query Manager) allows you to specify the scsi-ID of the cdrom. If you are installing from cdrom, DO NOT CHANGE THE ID FROM ITS DEFAULT OF 5. The above bootstring will override this setting.

For mouse, Low Resolution Keyboard Mouse (two button mouse). For video, it is recommended to select IBM VGA to install (this can be changed as necessary through sysadmsh after installation).

Follow the installation procedure as normal. Toward the end of the installation, the prompt "Please enter the names of the packages you wish to install [default mdac]" will appear. Simply press <Enter> to accept the default.

When the installation is complete and the "Safe to Power Off" message is displayed, re-insert the ibm004b pre-boot diskette into the floppy drive and press <Enter> to reboot.

At the BOOT: prompt, remove the ibm004b pre-boot diskette and insert the N1 diskette into the floppy drive and type the following: fd(64)unix link=mdac root=hd(40) swap=hd(41) <Enter>

Insert the mdac BTLD diskette when prompted and press <Enter>

At the prompt to press <Ctrl + D> proceed with normal startup, enter the ROOT password to boot into system maintenance mode.

At this point, the /boot file needs to be replaced. Remove the N1 diskette and insert the ibm004b pre-boot diskette and type the following:
cd / <Enter>
mount -r /dev/fd0 /mnt <Enter>
mv /boot /boot- <Enter>
cp /mnt/boot /boot <Enter>
chown bin /boot <Enter>
chgrp bin /boot <Enter>
chmod 400 /boot <Enter>
umount /mnt <Enter>

Remove the ibm004b pre-boot diskette and type reboot to restart the system. At the BOOT: prompt, simply press <Enter> to begin the boot process.

At the prompt to press <Ctrl + D> to proceed with normal startup, enter the ROOT password to boot into system maintenance mode.

At the prompt, type the following:
custom <Enter>
Highlight Install and press <Enter>
Highlight A New Product and press <Enter>
Highlight Entire Product and press <Enter>
When prompted to Insert distribution Volume 1 insert the ibm005b Corollary C-bus II diskette and press <Enter>
When prompted to Insert the requested Volume simply press <Enter>
When complete, quit and exit

Note: If SCO MPX 3.0 is installed after this procedure, ibm005b must be re-installed.

The kernel must be re-linked at this point. Type the following at the command prompt: cd /etc/conf/cf.d <Enter>
./link_unix -y <Enter>
be sure to type the period (.) before the slash (/)

Remove the ibm005b C-bus II diskette and type reboot to restart the system.

All done. Store all diskettes with the operating system.

OpenServer v5.00 and v5.0.2
Obtain one of the following self-extracting files from the IBM bbs if Symmetrical Multi-Processing (SMP) is to be installed on the system:
ibm006a.exe is required if running SCO OpenServer v5.0.2 and SMP with total system memory less than 512MB.
ibm007a.exe is required if running either SCO OpenServer v5.00 or v5.0.2 and SMP with total system memory of 512MB+ and using the SCO Large Server Supplement.
ibm008a.exe is required if running SCO OpenServer v5.00 and SMP with total system memory less than 512MB.

These SMP supplements contain a new module for the Corollary library required to prevent the IBM PC Server 720 from panicking just after the hardware screen is displayed during the boot phase when running SMP with processors faster than 100Mhz. These files can be located on the IBM bbs (919-517-0001), anonymous ftp (ftp.pc.ibm.com), and the World Wide Web (http://www.us.pc.ibm.com/files.html). Documentation for these supplements can also be located on the IBM bbs as ibm006a.txt, ibm007a.txt, and ibm008a.txt. SCO OpenServer v5.0.4 does not require any of these supplements.

Obtain the file 76h8962.exe from the IBM bbs. This file is a self-extracting file (under DOS or OS/2) that will create a diskette automatically. On this diskette, in the \OPENSRV directory, is another self-extracting file called mdac403.exe. Copy this file to your DOS or OS/2 harddrive and execute it. This file will create a diskette that will contain the mdac BTLD that supports the IBM SCSI-2 Fast/Wide Streaming Raid adapter /A as well as the IBM PCI SCSI-2 Fast/Wide Raid adapter running SCO
Open Server v5.0x. 76h8962.exe can be located on the IBM bbs (919-517-0001), anonymous ftp (ftp.pc.ibm.com), and the World Wide Web (http://www.pc.ibm.com).

Obtain cbus530.exe from the IBM bbs. This self-extracting file is the Corollary C-bus II supplement that incorporates several enhancements for the Corollary Extended C-bus II system and is required to correct an "IP Spinning" error generated during heavy lan activity. cbus530.exe can be located on the IBM bbs (919-517-0001), anonymous ftp (ftp.pc.ibm.com/pub/pccbbs/pc_servers/cbus530.exe), and the World Wide Web (http://www.pc.ibm.com).

For SCO OpenServer v5.00:
Obtain the file oss411a.boot from the "/SLS" directory on the SCO bbs. This PC Server 720 supplement consists of a new N0 pre-boot diskette which also ensures that any spurious interrupts generated by the hardware are ignored. The SCO bbs can be accessed through anonymous FTP (ftp.sco.com) or through the World Wide Web (ftp://www.sco.com). Do not use oss411a if installing OpenServer v5.0.2 or v5.0.4!

Insert the oss411a pre-boot diskette in the floppy drive and power on the system. At the BOOT: prompt, remove the oss411a pre-boot diskette and insert the Boot diskette. Type the following at the BOOT: prompt: defbootstr ahslink=mdac <Enter>
