TP 365X/XD,560,760 - Warp install problems

Applicable to: World-Wide

SYMPTOM:
Thinkpad 365X,XD, 560, or 760 installing the blue version of OS/2. After installing up to the first six diskettes of OS/2, customer reboots the machine, but it appears to hang. As per the manual, used the video fix diskette but this didn't work.

CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 365X/XD, 560, or 760 installing OS/2 Warp.

SOLUTION:
There are two problems.

1) There is a line in the cmd file (repvga.cmd) that tests for the presence of the \os2\os2.ini file, which is not present before the OS is installed. This line needs to be REM'ed and then the disk will work fine.

An alternative to avoid this problem would be to simply download the latest version of this diskette.

2) Once you have the video problem fixed, the machine will hang with the OS/2 logo on the screen on the reboot unless the config.sys is modified per the instructions in the booklet "Additional Information" that should have shipped with the unit.

The statement "basedev=sony31a.add" needs to be REM'ed out, this driver looks for a specific CD-ROM at I/O 330, which will hang the system as that address is reserved by the ESS audio chipset.

3) On page 146 of the manual, at step 16 of the install, the manual states that the 760 Video drivers should be installed, use the latest 365 driver from our web page to get the 800X600 support.
