Cross Brand - IBM PC International Warranty Service (IWS)
Applicable to: World-Wide
IBM's International Warranty Service (IWS) provides our customers with warranty service even if they relocate their PC to another country. This warranty service is available wherever IBM or IBM resellers sell and service your particular machine type. You must register for IWS in order to receive service internationally. To determine which countries provide this service, call the United States IWS Office at 1-800-497-7426. Or call (810) 740-1215 outside of the US.
NOTE: IWS applies to hardware only and not to software.
The length of warranty is determined by the country where your PC was purchased and the service delivery methods of the servicing country will be in effect and may be different from those in the originating country. Upon registration for IWS, IBM will issue a certificate which will be recognized worldwide by IBM and IBM reseller service organizations. Present it at the time of service and the warranty will be honored.
Please be aware of the following international considerations:
1. Due to magnetic fields in different parts of the world, monitors are manufactured to work in the northern or southern hemispheres or equatorial region and may not produce a satisfactory image if used in other regions.
2. While IBM software may be used in other countries, it is not covered under warranty. IBM programs are governed by the terms and conditions of the Program License Agreement. Other vendor software may also be subject to restrictions. Please study the terms and conditions before relocating.
3. Electrical power and electrical plugs vary in different parts of the world. Ensure machines you wish to relocate are compatible in the relocation country.
4. Equipment is often subject to local laws (particularly modems). Ensure your equipment is acceptable in the new country.
5. Computer equipment must be carefully packed to avoid transit damage which is not covered under IWS.
6. Each machine type may have models with unique features and components for a particular country. That machine type may be sold and serviced in the new country, however, if a particular model of that machine type is not sold and serviced in that country, service and parts may not be readily available in that country.
7. Customers are responsible for obtaining all necessary clearances required for export/import and shall bear any associated costs, tariffs and duties.
