- Video Features IV v1.22 or later for Windows NT 4.0

Helpful hints how to use the MPEG driver on Windows NT 4.0

When you use the MPEG driver on Windows NT 4.0, the following items should be considered since some limitations exist in the driver.

1. Any multimedia player application provided by a third party or a custom player application created for Windows NT is not guaranteed to work with this driver. Only the "Media Player" application (mplay32.exe) is tested and verified.

2. If you have already installed ActiveMovie and Internet Explorer 4.01 included in NT4.0 Service Pack 3 you will see the following caution after installed MPEG-2 driver.
This warning messages is shown at next NT boot time:

"Caution
Some of the file type usually associated with ActiveMovie are currently associated with other program. Because of this, you may be unable to play certain type of multimedia files.
Do you want to fix this (by restoring the file type to ActiveMovie ?) "

Select No and click "Don't ask this question again".

3. Running more than one video application which shares the same video hardware is not supported. For example, while an MPEG file is in play, the video capture application will not work. Run one or the other at a time. It is also not supported that you will playback the ActiveMovie while MPEG media player application is running.

4. When IBM MPEG-2 Decoder is selected on the Device menu on the Media Player, opening the
another Media Player for the Sound/MIDI/Video for Windows/CD Audio is on hold. If it requires using other devices concurrently with MPEG device on Media Player, select these devices first before selecting the IBM MPEG-2 Decoder.

5. Displaying the video window to the external CRT or to TV(NTSC/PAL) is supported. When the video is displayed on these screen, following is the limitation.

External CRT:

Setting the video mode to the following is not supported:

- Any resolution/color depth on 47/87 Refresh Rate,
- 800x600 /16M colors with any refresh rate (video memory limitation)
- 1600x1200/any colors with any refresh rate (video memory limitation)
- 16 colors with any resolution, refresh rate

6. While MPEG file is played using Media Player, suspend/resume is not supported. It is required to pause or stop the playback mode before entering into the suspend mode.

7. While MPEG file is played using Media Player, switch display mode from LCD to external TV out/external CRT is not supported. It is required to pause or stop the playback mode before entering into the switch display mode.
