001 - START
1ò Make sure that the mouse ball turns freely.
2ò Make sure that the mouse plug connects properly.
002 -
1ò Power off the system unit.
2ò Insert the diagnostics diskette into the diskette drive.
3ò Power on the system unit.
4ò Select Interactive Tests menu, then execute Mouse test.
003 - DO YOU SEE THE MOUSE CURSOR IN THE DIAGNOSTICS PROGRAM? (YES, READ AHEAD. NO, GO TO STEP 011)
1ò Test right (left) button and check if right (left) button works.
NOTE: If itÆs a ScrollPoint mouse, run the third button test and press the stick to ensure your mouse works.
004 - DOES THE MOUSE BUTTON WORK? (YES, READ AHEAD. NO, GO TO STEP 007)
1ò Test mouse cursor movement.
005 - DOES THE MOUSE MOVE SMOOTHLY AND KEEP X AND Y COORDINATES CHANGED? (YES, READ AHEAD. NO, GO TO STEP 006)
1ò Mouse is functioning normally.
2ò End.
006 -
1ò Power off the system unit.
2ò Open mouse bottom cover and clean track ball.
3ò Go to step 002.

1ò Power off the system unit.
2ò Check the mouse plug.
008 - ARE THERE ANY BROKEN PINS IN THE MOUSE PLUG? (YES, GO TO STEP 010. NO, READ AHEAD.)
1ò Try with a known good mouse.
009 - DO THE ERROR SYMPTOMS STILL REMAIN? (YES, READ AHEAD. NO, GO TO STEP 010.)
1ò Replace the system board.
2ò End

1ò Replace the mouse.
2ò End.
011 -
1ò Exit diagnostics program.
2ò Ensure that the mouse driver is properly installed.
3ò Go to step 002.
