**** IMPORTANT NOTICE ****
This document pertains only to ThinkPad's as a standalone system - i.e., UNDOCKED configuration. It's recommended that all attachable devices, except for an external diskette drive, be removed from your ThinkPad before installing Windows 98. This includes all PCMCIA/CARDBUS modem, LAN, and ATA cards, docking stations, port replicators, and PC Card enablers. If any of these devices are attached to your ThinkPad during the upgrade installation, Windows 98 may not run as explained in this document.
Since the 560x family is not equipped with an internal CD-ROM, an external CD-ROM with a SCSI/IDE PCMCIA card will need to be attached to your computer during the installation process. IBM has successfully tested the following physical configurations when installing Windows 98 on the 560x family:
o Sony 6X CD-ROM with Adaptec SCSI II PCMCIA card.
If a different configuration is used than what's listed above, Windows 98 may not run as explained in this document.
