PC Server 325 / 330 - Health Check
Applicable to: World-Wide
Server 325/330 EISA/PCI Hardware Requirements:
Retain Tip H136522: Before upgrading, replacing, or adding a second Pentium Pro Processor into the system, the
customer must be sure that the system is operating at the latest BIOS. This should be done to ensure that the correct
microcode patches are loaded into the processor during POST. Without the correct microcode patch, the processor may
not operate correctly.
ECA010/H137633: must be applied on the Pentium Pro processor card FRU P/N 75H7419. The correct placement of the J9 jumper can prevent traps, hangs, and bus timeout errors during heavy CPU and I/O activity. This symptom has been observed during heavy stress tests in a dual Pentium Pro processor environment.
ECA012/H161379: provides for the replacement of some SCSI 1.12GB and 2.25GB hard drives in PC Server 300, 320, 325, 330, 500, 520, and 720 systems. The affected hard drives may experience read/write errors which could cause defunct drive(s) (DDD).
Retain Tip H1625: The open bay, non hot-swap PC Servers 325/330 are manufactured with an 8X CD-ROM FRU P/N
73H2601 which cannot be used to provide termination. Another SCSI device must be installed in these systems that can provide active termination or the active terminator Option P/N 94G7587 must be installed. Improper termination can cause
intermittent errors reading from or writing to SCSI devices on the bus.
BIOS 34A should be applied to systems running NetWare 3.12 that are experiencing 'primary interrupt controller detected a lost hardware interrupt' messages. This BIOS is ONLY for PC Server 325/330 that are running NetWare 3.12 and should NOT be applied to any other servers.
Retain Tip H123817: Novell NetWare 3.1x will not recognize memory above 16MB. The "register memory" parameter must be used to manually register memory.
